그래픽 디자이너가 엄마가 되었을 때, 색과 형태에 닿지 못하는 나날이 시작되었다.
임신으로 배가 불러 오르고, 느릿느릿 걸어야 하는 몸으로 변해가는 동안 눈앞에 보이기 시작한 것은 뜻대로 되지 않는 몸과 발맞추지 못하는 사회였다. 육아가 시작되자 눈앞에 버티고 선 것은 일과 육아의 병행이라는 벽이었다. 사람들의 삶과 맞닿아 있어야 할 디자인의 일과, 눈앞의 가사와 육아라는 삶의 어긋남. 아이의 시간과 일의 시간. 아이를 통해 바라보는 세계와 일을 통해 바라보는 세계. 혼돈의 곡선의 세계와 질서 정연한 직선의 세계. 두 세계 사이에서 발이 묶인 채 마주하게 된 것은, 자본주의의 레이스와 멈추지 않는 환경 파괴, 그리고 젠더 불평등이 하나의 고리를 이루는 풍경이었다. 그리고 아이가 손을 잡고 데려가 주는, 흙냄새 나는 풍경. 나 또한 한때 알고 있었던, 그 곡선의 풍경이었다.
